Linden Gallery exhibits Han Dynasty pottery dating from 206 B.C. -
220 A.D.
ELLISON BAY, WI - You
are invited to the unveiling of an unusual exhibit on Memorial Day Weekend at Linden Gallery in Ellison Bay. On
Saturday, May 27 beginning at 10 AM you may experience rare, ancient pottery from the Han Dynasty in China that
dates from 206 B.C. to 220 A.D.
"It was fashionable during this time to portray realistic scenes
of social life," explains Jeanee Linden. "So this pottery gives you a glimpse into what the Chinese believed
was important in everyday life over a thousand years ago."
Brian and Jeanee Linden discovered the pottery during their recent winter travels in China. Each year the Lindens
search there for antiques and art for their Ellison Bay and Madison galleries and continue their work in developing
an East-West art center and retreat in China. This year the Lindens succeeded in securing official government approval
to export these rare Chinese antiquities.
"Han Dynasty pottery, which is excavated from ancient previously-unearthed
tombs, provides a unique insight into the Chinese society of two millennia ago," says Brian Linden. "This
is the output of a society that had recently become united, and the pottery surpasses Chinese wares of any previous
period, in quantity, quality and variety."
The Han Dynasty wares arrived recently along with the Linden's usual massive container loads of furniture, paintings,
artifacts and other pottery discoveries. Linden Gallery's Han Dynasty exhibit will be on display throughout the
season. All pieces are offered for sale.
Linden Gallery is located at the corner of Hwy 42 and Mink River Road in downtown Ellison Bay. For more information
about the Han Dynasty exhibit call 920.854.2487 or visit www.LindensGallery.com on-line.
